Getting into the Halloween Spirit

Sammie said the suckers were cute but they didn't taste very good!!!

On Friday we decided make some pumpkins suckers from a kit me and the girls had picked up While Clark was hunting. It was super easy and the girls fun making them and sharing them with their friends. Then later while the kitchen was already a mess we decided to decorated a Haunted cookie house which was a lot of fun this was our first year doing this we always do it at Christmas time but I think we just started a new tradition. The girls were super creative and they decided to make it look messy so it looked like a witch live there. I am not a huge fan of black frosting but we make it through with minimal damage to our clothes.

Most girls think I am crazy but I love to go camping for the opening weekend of the Deer and Elk Hunt. I grew up doing this and it is in my blood. I don't hunt but I love everything else about it. We always camp with my side of the family and for the last couple years we have rented a trailer. this year we went above and beyond and got a RV this thing was huge but the company we rented the trailer from moved to Preston and we didn't want to go up there to pick it up. Clark and I laughed all the way up the canyon. Clark felt like a bus driver. The first night around the fire Sammie ate way to many marsh mellows and puked on me in the middle of the night. That was the last night we participated in making smores. The first weekend we went was for the Elk hunt it was fun for a couple days but then it began to rain and would not quite. I think this was the Lords way of making sure we were all inside listening to conference I love sitting outside and listening to conference up in the Mountains except this year it was raining so we were stuck in a trailer with little ones who had a hard time listening. We decided to come home for conference on Sunday. The next weekend that we went up we were able to go from Thursday to Sunday because the girls were out of school for UEA .You could not have asked for better weather. We had a blast. the girls went from sun up to sun down. We had fun doing all sorts of craft projects. The boys of course had fun hiking and hunting. We took the girls four wheeling at first Saige was scared of it so Clark had to push Saige and Grandpa without the motor going and Grandpa would say vroom vroom honk honk and then it would make Saige Laugh and then she was comfortable enough she let him actually start it for real and then you could not get her off. One highlight for the girls was that Clark let them use a pocket knife if they sat by him. they spent hours carving sticks. The girls boy cousins let them try their Beebe guns which they thought was fun after each shot they would all run up and see were they hit the target. Saige shot with booth of her eyes closed it was so cute. The cousins had fun playing a ranger game were they talked on walkie talkies and pretended to catch all the bad hunters that didn't have permits and they would take them to jail(which was a trailer). They would go up in this circle of trees they called their hideout . Saige said there is bears in here Jake and Caleb saw them (two of her older cousins must have fill her full of stories.) They loved to go on little adventure hikes were they would have to cross a stream on rocks.Of course we had such a great time around the campfire the kids would do performances and sing songs for us. We played a game called I am going camping and I going to bring..... If you would like to learn I can explain more but you try to guess a pattern of things people are bringing camping it was fun for adults and kids to play as well. One day I was trying to put an orange shirt on Saige and I told her she had to wear it so the hunters didn't think she was a deer and shoot at her. She said" Mom I don't have to wear orange I will just tell them that I am Saige Wiser not a deer!" This girls has a solution for everything. We were sad to see this fun trip come to and end but we were getting to stinky to go another day we needed a shower. You don't realize how bad everything stinks until you get home and have to clean it all. This is such a fun tradition I have so many fond memories of when I was young and I love sharing this experience with my little family.

The Pumpkin Harvest

With Halloween around the corner we decided to pick the rest of our pumpkins regardless of their size , shape or color. We had quite the variety. The girls had fun deciding which size was just right for all of us. Some of the pumpkins looked more like squash I think they must have cross pollinated with our squash. I was so glad to get rid of my overgrown pumkin patch.
